Muga is one of the oldest, most elegant and traditional Rioja producers. The Muga wine cellars were founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga Martínez who originated from a family with strong ties to the winemaking industry. In 1971, the headquarters was moved to their present location on the outskirts of Haro. The Muga artisan-style of wine making, particularly the aging processes, shows the great attention to detail expressed by this winemaker. Muga even has its own cooperage, buying French and American oak, and crafting the wine barrels.
