David & Nadia Skaliekop Chenin Blanc 2021

These vines, planted in 1985 in very shallow shale soils in the Paardeberg, are an anomaly given the mountain's granite composition. These challenging soils highlight why the region is known for wheat farming, particularly in a warm, dryland farming context. A small tractor road separates the Plat’bos and Skaliekop vineyards. Harvested in mid to late February over three picking dates, the wines from each picking were aged separately before blending and bottling at the end of the year.
