Wine Review - December Edition

It was a hectic November and December, that's why we skipped a month of wine review. With the holiday season behind us, we’re excited to present the Wine Review - December Edition. December is always a festive month, and our office was no exception. We had the pleasure of tasting several delightful wines, and we’re eager to share our findings with you.

December is a festive month, and we indulged in quite a few bottles in our office. Our first bottle is the Graeme Julie Bott First Flight Syrah 2021. This Vin de France from Rhône has a typical Syrah bouquet—rich with blackberry, dark fruit, vanilla, and oak. It's well-balanced with a medium to rich body. Despite being labeled as 13% alcohol, it feels a bit higher but maintains enough acidity. This is a quality, terroir-driven wine from an exciting young producer.

Next, we savored the René Bouvier Côte de Nuits-Villages 2018. René Bouvier expanded the family's vineyard holdings while maintaining a focus on the greater Côte de Nuits. They now emphasize partial whole-cluster vinifications and organic vine growing. This wine has a shy nose with hints of toast, a slightly watery raspberry and cherry flavor with a touch of strawberry, oak, earthy, and leather finish.

The last bottle we tasted was the Terre di San Leonardo, the second wine of San Leonardo. This Italian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%), and Carmenere (10%) is an entry cuvée. While it doesn't offer much complexity, it embodies the essential characteristics of a Bordeaux blend with a fruity, long finish. For its price, it’s really good.
