The Starting Point Winery was founded in 2015 in Helan Mountain, Ningxia. Approximately 66.7 hectares of vineyards are planted with grapevines introduced from France in 1997, with an average age of 25 years for the grapevines now.
Out of hundreds of hectares of land, the winery carefully selects about 15 hectares to produce the best quality grapes, adhering to minimal human intervention, respecting nature, and meticulously cultivating the vineyards through natural farming methods. Combining traditional concepts with modern facilities and technology, the winery produces organic and natural wines. The Starting Point Winery's orange wine is one of the earlier natural wines among Chinese wineries. Traditional techniques are used in the winemaking process, burying earthen jars filled with wine underground to allow the soil to absorb as much of the heat generated during fermentation as possible.
At the same time, the slight breathability of the ceramic jars allows the wine to come into contact with oxygen, endowing it with aromatic complexity during the maturation process. This wine is an elegant combination of a soft, delicate texture, fresh acidity, and balanced tannins. The passage of time will only enhance the distinctive color and aroma of this natural wine with great aging potential.
