Product Description
Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut 2008 represents Bollinger's legendary "Récemment Dégorgé" concept pioneered by Madame Bollinger in 1967—old vintages disgorged just months before release to guarantee remarkable freshness. The exceptional 2008 vintage earned Wine Advocate's highest-ever score of 98+ points for any Champagne vintage since 1970, surpassing even the legendary 1996.
Extended Lees Aging Mastery
Aged over 13 years on lees before disgorgement in October 2022, this 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay blend from 18 Grand and Premier Crus undergoes complete fermentation in oak barrels. With minimal 3g/L dosage (Extra Brut), the wine showcases absolute purity and precision.
Critics' Unanimous Acclaim
Lisa Perrotti-Brown awarded 98+ points, calling it "so full of life and magic" with "aromatic layer after layer of white peach, Meyer lemon confit, kumquat, wafer cookies, wet stones and acacia honey" and "exquisite saline intensity"
James Suckling scored it 99 points, praising its "tangy and energetic" character with "sizzling acidity and creamy tannins".
Antonio Galloni gave 96 points, describing it as a "powerful, vinous Champagne, quite exotic". The palate reveals citrus notes, Mirabelle plums, vine peaches, fresh hazelnuts, and distinctive salinity in an extremely long finish.
