Adrien Renoir Les Epinettes Champagne Grand Cru Verzy 2019 is a blanc de noirs of rare purity from organically farmed, 1971-planted Pinot Noir vines on clay-limestone and chalk soils in Verzy's most prized lieu-dit. 100% barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged 36 months on lees, disgorged July 2023 with just 1g/l dosage — minimal intervention, maximum terroir.
A gorgeous waxy apple peel, nectarine, golden tobacco and pine nut on the nose. The palate is "gauzy, like a cashmere scarf held to the wind" — silk, gossamer, pervading saltiness, fine persistent mousse and an enticing bitter-plum finish. Cellar to 2035.
