Run by twin brothers Guillaume and Baptiste Frey, Clos Thierrière is a rising star of Vouvray, farming 12 hectares of certified organic Chenin Blanc in Vernou-sur-Brenne with minimal intervention. 'Sang de Roche' — meaning "blood of rock" — is sourced from a single 1.5-hectare plot of 30-year-old vines on flinty clay soils, whole-bunch pressed and wild-yeast fermented in fibreglass before seven months on fine lees.
The 2022 is vivid and precise: white peach, green apple, quince, and citrus zest on the nose, leading to a taut, mineral-driven palate with threads of pear, saline tension, and a long, chalky Vouvray finish that lingers beautifully.
