Product Description

Adrien Renoir Le Cepage Verzy Grand Cru Extra Brut is an exquisite Champagne crafted exclusively from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown on 40-year-old vines. It reveals a complex bouquet featuring aromas of pear, crisp stone fruit, buttered toast, floral notes, and a touch of smoke. On the palate, this Extra Brut offers a medium to full body with satiny, fleshy textures and bright acidity, culminating in a long, saline, and savory finish.

Vinification & Winemaking

This Grand Cru Champagne is organically and biodynamically farmed in Verzy, Montagne de Reims. The grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in neutral oak, with minimal intervention and no malolactic fermentation to preserve purity. Extended lees aging of around 20-24 months enhances complexity. A very low dosage renders a true Extra Brut style, emphasizing terroir expression.

Vineyard & Background

The vines thrive on chalky, clay-calcareous soils, typical of the Verzy Grand Cru, providing structure and minerality. Adrien Renoir, a fourth-generation grower since 2014, leads this estate with a focus on authenticity, organic farming, and terroir-driven wines. Le Cepage exemplifies his commitment to producing elegant, refined Champagne with both finesse and depth, making it highly sought by discerning Champagne enthusiasts.

Score & Critic Quote

Wine Advocate: 94 points (NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Le Cépage, 2019 base) with this note: “Delivering aromas of pear, crisp stone fruit, buttered toast and smoke, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and ample, with a bright spine of acidity and a chiseled, racy profile, concluding with a saline finish.”
