Product Description
Cayuse Vineyards God Only Knows Armada Vineyard Grenache 2012 earned #8 on Wine Enthusiast Magazine's Top 100 Wines of 2015, emerging from what both Christophe and Elizabeth Baron describe as a "classic vintage"—neither too hot nor too cold, achieving wonderful balance that will sustain these red wines for decades. This 95% Grenache blend with 5% Syrah and Tempranillo showcases why Cayuse ranks among North America's most distinctive producers.
Rayas-Inspired Purity
Planted with cuttings from Château Rayas itself, the Armada Vineyard produces USA Grenache of unparalleled purity and complexity. After 21 months in neutral French oak, the wine achieved just 13.7% alcohol while maintaining remarkable concentration from 1.5 tons per acre yields.
Multiple 96-Point Scores
Jeb Dunnuck awarded 96 points for The Wine Advocate, noting the wine is "structured and backward" with "lots of framboise, black cherries, bouquet garni and spice" leading to a "full-bodied, seamless, elegant feel on the palate," recommending 3-4 years cellaring with 15+ year aging potential.
Sean Sullivan also scored it 96 points for Wine Enthusiast, describing how "it takes some time to open up but when it does, this wine reveals perfumed aromas of potpourri, green olive, savory spices, peat, pepper and mineral" with a palate that is "equal parts light and dense with almost chewy, savory flavors that won't quit."
