Product Description
Max Richter Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spatlese 2023 showcases one of the Mosel's most prestigious "grand cru" sites, where the Richter family has cultivated vineyards since 1643. The Brauneberg (brown mountain) is legendary—even Thomas Jefferson declared wines from this vineyard his favorite during his 1780s visit to the Mosel. This exceptional Riesling Spatlese comes from the heart of the Juffer vineyard, on slopes reaching 80% grade with Devonian blue slate and iron-rich minerals.
Heritage Winemaking
For over 300 years across nine generations, Max Richter has perfected the art of Mosel Riesling. The wine ferments naturally in traditional old oak fuders (960-liter barrels), using no pesticides or herbicides in the vineyard, ensuring purity and longevity.
Sensory Excellence
This Spatlese delivers lifted apricot notes with pureed pear and creamy stone fruit vying for attention on the palate. The nose reveals delicate elegance with citrus, white peaches, mature yellow fruit, and lively minerality from iron-rich soils. Fresh lemon acidity ensures long aging potential, while the sweet, creamy strudel finish makes this irresistible now yet built to evolve beautifully.
