The Grasso family has been dedicated to grape cultivation and winemaking since 1927. Established by Silvio Grasso, their estate is located in the esteemed commune of La Morra, renowned for its distinguished crus like Bricco Luciani and Bricco Manzoni. It wasn’t until 1980, when Federico Grasso began bottling and selling his wines, that the family's reputation for producing sophisticated and modern Barolos truly blossomed.
Federico adopts a unique approach, favoring large barrels over barriques for maturation to minimize excessive wood aromas and carefully using new wood. The estate practices natural farming, employing integrated pest and disease management, and utilizing only organic fertilizers along with sulfur and copper-based treatments. Spontaneous cover crops are allowed to flourish between the vine rows, and the soil is occasionally tilled, while the use of SO2 in the wines is carefully regulated.
