Product Description
Bodegas Faustino V Reserva 2016 embodies over 160 years of family winemaking tradition, dating back to 1861 when founder Eleuterio Martinez established what would become one of the First Families of Rioja. Today managed by the sixth-generation Martinez daughters, Faustino has earned global recognition as Rioja's largest Gran Reserva exporter, with wines enjoyed across 140+ countries.
Double the Aging, Double the Character
This Reserva undergoes twice the barrel aging required by DOCa Rioja regulations—spending 24 months in American oak followed by 12 months bottle aging before release. The 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo blend comes from estate vineyards in Rioja Alavesa at 450m altitude, where calcareous marl soils impart distinctive undergrowth aromatics.
Critics & Collectors Agree
James Suckling awarded 93 points, praising "plenty of ripe berries, dried flowers and sandalwood" with "full-bodied, round, creamy-textured tannins".
CellarTracker reviewers note it's "just entering development" with solid aging potential through 2032+, though a 2-hour decant unlocks its full expression now.
