Dr. Hermann Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Spätlese 2018

The 2018 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese (Gold Capsule) is still reductive on the super clear and flinty nose with its pineapple aromas and notes of crushed stones. From roughly 30-year-old vines, the grapes were picked perfectly healthy at 100° Oechsle. This is a salty-piquant, fresh, elegant, straight and precise Spätlese with lingering salinity and crispy slate on the finish. This is a highly (dangerously) stimulating and salty-piquant Riesling. The wine was bottled in early March with 7.5% alcohol, 87 grams per liter of residual sugar and eight grams per liter of total acidity. Tasted in March 2019.
