Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Chardonnay 2024 earned an exceptional 97 points from both Campbell Mattinson and James Suckling, plus 96+ from Wine Advocate and 96 from Huon Hooke. This outstanding wine showcases reserved power with a super complex nose of smoky, spicy citrus oils, stone fruit, and an earthy aspect. Aromas of lime leaves, sliced lemons, sea spray, green apples, oyster shells, and flint lead to a palate that's concentrated, intense, and perfumed. The wine washes over the tongue with brilliant width and transparency, staining it with flavor and leaving behind a trail of chalky phenolics. Stone, flint, grapefruit, green apple, pickled ginger, and white stone fruits create a tense, nervy character with strong mineral drive.

100% handpicked and whole bunch pressed, wild fermented in 500L French oak puncheons (10% new) and 30% in 675L open-top clay egg vessels with full lees. No bâtonnage, no malolactic fermentation, matured 9 months. This intense, pure Chardonnay rewards cellaring 5-10+ years.
