銀色高地 Silver Heights

Benchmark for Chinese Bordeaux-blend

Silver Heights is a pioneering family-run estate in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, widely considered the "Bordeaux of China." The name "Silver Heights" reflects its location at the foothills of the Helan Mountains (银色 "Silver" from the mountains, 高地 "Heights" for the high altitude). The founder Gao Lin, an agronomist who was among the first to plant vines in Ningxia in the 1980s. Her daughter Emma Gao, studying oenology in France, returned to Ningxia in 2007 with the mission to create elegant wines from her homeland. Emma's husband and a former cellar master at Château Calon-Ségur moved to Ningxia to help manage viticulture and winemaking. Emma Gao's philosophy is deeply influenced by her time in Bordeaux. The goal is to create elegant, balanced, and expressive wines that reflect their Ningxia origin rather than simply imitating Bordeaux, with minimal intervention and oak integration.
