Alheit Vineyards 'Huilkrans' 2024 is a single-origin Skurfberg Chenin Blanc of grand cru stature - sourced from ancient, dry-farmed bush vines planted between 1974 and 1989 on Oudam farm at 450 meters above sea level in Citrusdal Mountain. Thriving in deep red sand over red clay, these low-yielding vines yield juice of remarkable concentration, bristling acidity, and raw energy.
Whole-bunch pressed with zero additions, wild-fermented in neutral vessels and lees-aged before resting in tank — unfined and guided with pure cellar minimalism. Tim Atkin describes it as the "deeper baritone" counterpart to the estate's lineup, showcasing "green olive, yellow apple and fennel, a textured mid-palate, understated power and wonderful palate length". The palate opens with cool, creamy presence - layered with sliced pear, pomelo rind, and subtle honeyed depth - all anchored by a vibrant beam of saline freshness and a long, savory finish.
