This wine originates from the distinguished Les Drazey lieu-dit in Chambolle-Musigny, where 50-60cm of reddish-brown soil packed with rounded limestone fragments creates exceptional growing conditions. This wine benefits from the unique salmon-colored clay-limestone conglomerate beneath the topsoil, formed by ancient geological shifts that give the terroir remarkable complexity. Just southeast, Les Argillières' contrasting lighter, less-stony soils (40-50cm deep) over ancient clay deposits produce a completely different expression of Chambolle character. This wine captures the quintessential elegance of Chambolle-Musigny, with the power of Les Drazey's mineral-rich soils balancing Les Argillières' delicate finesse. The dynamic interplay of these two distinct terroirs results in a Pinot Noir of extraordinary depth and aromatic complexity.
