Domaine Philippe Leclerc has long stood apart in Gevrey-Chambertin as a guardian of traditional Burgundy winemaking — foot-treading, extended cool macerations, and ageing in a high proportion of new French oak before bottling unfined and unfiltered to preserve every nuance of the terroir. Les Platières, a single lieu-dit of well-drained limestone soils on the slopes of Gevrey-Chambertin, is crafted with the same uncompromising attention that defines every Philippe Leclerc bottling from village to grand cru level.
The 2021 pours a vibrant ruby with a complex nose of mushroom, undergrowth, leather, blackberry, and liquorice, leading to a dense, powerful palate with excellent concentration and a long, classic Gevrey-Chambertin finish.
