Grown at 1,400–2,500 feet above Napa's fog line, this Duckhorn Cabernet draws on Howell Mountain's volcanic soils and slow-ripening fruit for exceptional concentration. Aromas of purple violets, cassis and wild blackberry lead into layers of graphite, tobacco leaf and espresso, while 24 months of aging—18 in new French oak—builds structure and depth.
On the palate, dense, fine-grained tannins meet a supple finish, with dark chocolate and dried sage lingering long. Age-worthy and boldly expressive, it captures the "iron fist in a velvet glove" character prized in this appellation.
