White marl over limestone distinguishes the vineyard behind Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes 2023. This Chardonnay comes from soils that Wine Advocate compares with those of Chablis, giving a useful reference point for the wine’s notably saline character.
Kristaps Karklins of Wine Advocate describes “aromas of nashi pear, white flowers, oyster juice, white peach and lemon oil.” He adds: “On the palate, it is medium-bodied, pure and chiseled, with a crisp core of fruit and ample chalky extract”.
