Product Description
The Kumeu River Mate's Vineyard Chardonnay 2024 represents New Zealand's finest Chardonnay craftsmanship from the pioneering Brajkovich family estate. Founded in 1944 by Croatian immigrants, Kumeu River has become the globally recognized benchmark for non-Burgundy White Wine, with their Chardonnays often mistaken for premier Burgundies in blind tastings.
Vineyard & Winemaking
Mate's Vineyard honors patriarch Maté Brajkovich, planted in 1990 on the original 1944 site with clay soils over sandstone. Under Master of Wine Michael Brajkovich's guidance, this Chardonnay employs Burgundian techniques including wild yeast fermentation, extended lees aging, and malolactic fermentation.
Tasting Notes
Rated 95-97 points by Wine Advocate, this exceptional Kumeu River Chardonnay is "mouthfilling and full" with "intensity that explodes in every direction". Aromas of lemon zest, white flowers, and stone fruit lead to spicy top notes and thunderous yellow fruit, unified by signature acidity in this world-class White Wine.
