Perillo Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2008
Origin
Country: Italy
Region and Appellation: Campania Taurasi
Product Description
Perillo Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2008 marries old-vine Aglianico power with layered elegance, delivering a structured, age-worthy red that speaks clearly of Irpinia’s volcanic terroir. Silky yet firm tannins frame ripe forest fruit, blackcurrant, and balsamic tones, evolving toward mushroom, leather, and mineral nuances over a long, polished finish.
Tasting notes
Elegant garnet with a multilayered nose of balsamic, ripe red and black berries, and subtle medicinal hints, followed by earthy mushroom and leather accents that deepen with air. The palate is dense and refined, with a ripe fruit core, vibrant acidity, and fine tannins that carry a persistent, savory finish built for extended cellaring.
Winemaking
Sourced from high-altitude vineyards in Castelfranci, this Taurasi Riserva is a stricter selection, aged longer than the estate Taurasi, with maturation in large and small oak that began expanding from 2008 to enhance balance and longevity.
Critics
Awarded 93 points by Falstaff for its elegance, polish, and mineral drive, confirming Perillo’s benchmark status in classic Taurasi Riserva expression.
