Philippe Chavy is lauded by Remington Norman & Charles Taylor MW as "now in the forefront of Puligny domaines" — and nowhere is this more evident than in his Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles, the jewel of his estate. Sourced from a mere 0.20-hectare plot planted in 1947 — producing just three barrels annually — this premier cru is biodynamically farmed, whole-bunch pressed, and fermented in 500–600 litre oak barrels on natural yeasts to honour every nuance of its exceptional terroir.
Pale gold and luminous, Les Pucelles 2022 opens with fine vanilla, white peach, ripe citrus, and a delicate floral lift — the palate is fleshy yet perfectly balanced, multi-layered with crème brûlée and mirabelle on the finish, and underpinned by the signature mineral precision that defines the finest Puligny-Montrachet premier cru.
