Product Description
Named for 1522, when the Philipponnat family settled in Aÿ, this Grand Cru champagne blends 72% Pinot Noir and 28% Chardonnay, aged six years on lees without malolactic fermentation, and dosed at just 4.25 g/l Extra Brut. The captivating nose reveals toasted brioche, vanilla and crème brûlée, softened by subtle menthol.
Antonio Galloni calls it "ample and resonant... a wine of notable stature," with red plum, kirsch and dried flowers building into a "huge, palate-staining finish". Decanter praises its "serious complexity and drive," while the palate stays generous and creamy, finishing on signature white pepper.
