Origin
Country: France
Region and Appellation: Champagne
Product Description
Adrien Batteux, a 4th-generation winemaker in Verzenay, has been crafting exceptional Grand Cru Champagne since taking over the family estate in 2012. Working sustainably across 2.6ha without herbicides or insecticides, he vinifies each parcel separately to produce powerful, expressive, and age-worthy wines. This 2018 vintage cuvée—a blend of 1/3 Chardonnay (Verzenay Grand Cru) and 2/3 Pinot Noir (Verzenay & Louvois)—showcases the richness of one of Champagne’s earliest harvests, balancing ripe peach, pear, and apricot notes with honey, brioche, and a vibrant saline minerality. With a low dosage of 3.4g/L, disgorged in May 2022, and limited to only 1,968 bottles, this silky, elegant Champagne is a must-try for collectors seeking a fresh yet complex expression of Grand Cru terroir.
