Product Description
San Felice 'Il Grigio da San Felice' Gran Selezione 2014 represents the pinnacle of Chianti Classico wines from this historic Tuscan estate's oldest vines and finest vineyard plots. This prestigious Gran Selezione blends 80% Sangiovese with 20% indigenous varieties including Abrusco, Pugnitello, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo, and Mazzese—many rescued from extinction through San Felice's renowned "vicitiarium" preservation project. Each variety was fermented separately followed by 22-day maceration, then aged 24 months split between large Slavonian oak ovals and French oak barriques, plus 8 months bottle aging before release.
Tasting Profile
The wine opens with ripe cherry aromas layered with subtle cured leather, smoked bacon, violets, cassis, tobacco, and liquorice. Full-bodied and velvety smooth, the palate delivers concentrated ripe plum, dried black fruit, and tart cherry with cedar influence and beautifully integrated spicy oak.
