Product Description
Eben Sadie's flagship Sadie Family red, Columella is a Swartland blend of old-vine Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, and Tinta Barocca sourced from eight South Africa vineyards across Paardeberg and Kasteelberg. The 2021 spent 12 months in French oak casks (10% new), then 12 months in old foudre — unfined and unfiltered with 50% whole bunches.
- Nose: Extremely bright crushed red fruit, blueberry, peach pits, sandalwood, violets, and a velvety herbal fynbos character — fragrant, pure, and polished
- Palate: Blood orange, pomegranate, wild sage, black pepper, and ginger with silky tannins — elegant, precise, and less massive than previous vintages
- Finish: Seamlessly long and minerally — smoke, stone, cinnamon, and candied violet linger; best from 2026, drinking through 2052
