Alheit Vineyards Hemelrand Vine Garden 2023 is a one-of-a-kind South Africa estate white field blend - Chardonnay, Roussanne, Chenin Blanc, Verdelho and Muscat from a cold, windswept Hemel & Aarde Ridge vineyard at 360m, planted on gravelly clay and sandstone.
Whole-bunch pressed, wild fermented in old barrels with zero additions, lees-aged 12 months then six months in tank — unfined and unfiltered. The exceptional 2023 vintage brought outstanding noble rot on the Chenin Blanc, adding extraordinary complexity. Expect lychee, exotic spice, dried orange peel, apricot compote and honeysuckle on the nose, with a medium-to-full, lightly oily palate and a long, tapered, electric finish.
