Beaumont is a family-owned and operated farm nestled in the heart of Bot River, a town renowned for its rich winemaking heritage. Home to the oldest wine cellar in the region, the farm dates back to the 1700s when it was established by the Dutch East India Company as a supply farm producing wine, fruit, vegetables, dairy, and flour. In 1974, Jayne and Raoul Beaumont purchased the property, known as Compagnes Drift, and began revitalizing its vineyards. Today, the farm is a testament to their legacy, with their children, Sebastian and Nici, taking the reins in 2015.
The Beaumont family’s emblem, the roaring lion, symbolizes honor, courage, and balance—qualities that are deeply reflected in their wines. With over 48 years of viticultural expertise on this unique property, Sebastian and his team craft wines that truly express the land. Their winemaking philosophy is rooted in instinct and respect for the vineyards, emphasizing minimal intervention to allow the terroir to shine. Ancient, low-yielding Chenin Blanc and Pinotage vines are carefully preserved, ensuring the wines authentically represent the farm’s heritage.
Sebastian’s hands-on approach combines traditional techniques, such as natural yeasts and open concrete “kuipe” fermenters, with modern innovations. This blend of old and new results in limited quantities of distinctive, characterful wines that capture the essence of Beaumont’s storied vineyards. Each bottle tells a story of tradition, passion, and the unique terroir of Bot River, making Beaumont a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts seeking authentic, artisanal wines.
