Product Description
By Farr Farrside Pinot Noir 2023 comes from Australia's 2025 Winery of the Year (The Real Review), located in the Moorabool Valley of Geelong, Victoria. This exceptional wine showcases the evolution of the region's most compelling single-vineyard Pinot Noir, consistently earning 4.2+ ratings on Vivino and ranking among Victoria's top 10 Pinot Noirs.
Distinctive Terroir Expression
The Farrside vineyard sits on a northeast-facing slope with black volcanic soil over limestone—just 300 meters from Sangreal yet producing a distinctly different style. Planted in 2001 with premium clones (114, 115, 777, 667, MV6), the cooler growing conditions mean grapes ripen 10-12 days later, creating a more masculine, edgy wine.
Artisan Winemaking & Evolution
The 2023 vintage marks a turning point—where "bold and brash" gives way to "fine, vibrant and ethereal". Hand-picked fruit undergoes 40-50% whole bunch fermentation with natural yeast, followed by 18 months in 50-60% new French Allier oak. The result is plush yet precise, with dark cherry, black plum, and forest floor meeting savory spice, pepper, and fine mineral notes.
Wine Advocate awarded 94 points, praising its "complex aromas of black tea, roses, grilled plums and fresh raspberries" with "silky tannins". This is By Farr at its finest—a collector's Pinot Noir built to age through 2035.
