Château La Mission Haut-Brion
The "Shadow First Growth" of Pessac-Léognan, it was founded in 1540 by the Lazarist missionaries (hence "La Mission"), who planted vines to fund their charitable work. Hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel and oak vats with gentle pump-overs, the wines are aged 18–22 months in French oak (60–70% new) – more new oak than Haut-Brion for added power.
