Château Latour
Château Latour is one of Bordeaux's most iconic wine estates, renowned for its power, longevity, and unwavering quality. The estate traces its roots to the 14th century, when a defensive tower ("La Tour") was built—giving the château its name. In 2012, it shocked the wine world by withdrawing from the en primeur system, choosing to release wines only when deemed ready. In terms of winemaking, they only choose from the best plots (mostly from L’Enclos) go into the Grand Vin. Then they ferment in stainless steel and wooden vats, with extended maceration for tannin extraction, and age for 18–20 months in 100% new French oak (one of the highest proportions in Bordeaux).
