Château Léoville Barton

Château Léoville Barton

Classified as Deuxième Cru Classé (Second Growth), Château Léoville Barton is part of the vast Léoville estate (once the largest in Médoc), the other two being Léoville Las Cases, and Léoville Poyferré. The plantings are Cabernet Sauvignon (74%) (backbone of the wine), and Merlot (23%), Cabernet Franc (3%). The winemaker performs hand-harvesting & Sorting and ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats (gentle extraction). The wines are then aged for 18 months in French oak (60% new), with egg-white fining.
