Comando G

The Commander of Garnacha

Comando G is one of Spain's most celebrated and influential wine producers, renowned for rediscovering and elevating the potential of old-vine Garnacha (Grenache) in the Sierra de Gredos mountains, west of Madrid. They focus on single vineyards ("parajes") of very old, bush-trained Garnacha vines (many 60-100+ years old) planted at extreme altitudes (between 800 and 1,200 meters / 2,600-3,900 ft). The soils are predominantly decomposed granite and sandy, which provide exceptional drainage and impart a signature crystalline purity, vibrant acidity, and a distinctive stony minerality to the wines.

The "G" Style: Forget about the powerful, high-alcohol Garnacha of the past. Comando G's wines are marked by elegance, freshness, aromatic delicacy (red berries, flowers, herbs), silky textures, and remarkable aging potential. They are often light in color but immense in complexity.
