Region and Appellation: Burgundy Pommard
Product Description
From the legendary monopole of Pommard, the Domaine de la Commaraine Clos de la Commaraine 2022 represents one of Burgundy's most historic terroirs, with vineyards dating back to the 12th century. This 3.63-hectare walled climat - long considered among Pommard's finest premier crus by experts including Danguy & Aubertin (1892) and Jean-François Bazin - produces wines of remarkable finesse that redefine Pommard's powerful reputation.
Tasting Notes
A vivid ruby with garnet highlights introduces complex aromas of wild berries, raspberry compote and candied orange peel, framed by subtle oak spice. The silky palate delivers medium-bodied intensity with juicy acidity, velvety tannins and a chalky mineral finish of impressive persistence.
Terroir & Winemaking
- Monopole advantage: Fully organic certified (since 2021), transitioning to biodynamics
- Precision viticulture: Divided into 8 sub-plots based on soil conductivity studies
- Elevage: 12-15 months in 50% new French oak (perfectly integrated)
- Soil signature: Iron-rich clay-limestone soils on Beaune-facing slopes
