Dominio de Anza is the personal project of Diego Magaña, one of Spain's most exciting young winemakers.Raised in a renowned Navarran winemaking family, Magaña trained in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Argentina, and Chile before being drawn to Bierzo by the legendary Raúl Pérez.The name honors his mother, Esperanza.
Since his first vintage in 2014, Magaña has crafted wines celebrated for their transparency, elegance, and profound sense of place.Critics have taken note: Luis Gutiérrez of The Wine Advocate called his collection "flat out great" and "truly outstanding, among the best produced in the appellation".
Magaña farms just 3-4 hectares of vines averaging 80-100 years across Bierzo's most prized parcels, including the renowned Rapolao cru.His philosophy is simple: minimal intervention, neutral oak, and letting the old vines speak.The result is a portfolio of refined, terroir-driven reds that capture the cool-climate energy and mineral depth of Bierzo's ancient hillsides.
In 2016, Magaña expanded to Rioja Alavesa, acquiring century-old vineyards and crafting spectacular wines from field blends of Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha, and Viura. Dominio de Anza stands among Spain's most dynamic and compelling producers, bridging two of the country's greatest regions with unwavering precision and soul.
