Spottswoode’s 40-acre vineyard, planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, thrives in sandy clay loam soils with cooling maritime breezes. Their Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is world-renowned, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc, Lyndenhurst, and Field Book. Each wine reflects the estate’s commitment to balance, elegance, and terroir-driven quality.
History & Innovation
Founded by George Schonewald, the estate was revitalized by Mary Novak in 1972. Spottswoode’s debut Cabernet Sauvignon launched in 1982, marking a century of winemaking. Today, the winery blends historic charm with modern techniques, featuring a state-of-the-art facility designed by Howard Backen.
