Product Description
Thomas Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay 2021 represents exceptional value from the cousin of Caroline Morey (of acclaimed Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey). After splitting from his father Bernard's estate in 2007, Thomas Morey established himself as one of Burgundy's rising stars through meticulous organic farming certified in 2017 and minimal intervention winemaking.
Declassified Chassagne-Montrachet Quality
The majority of this blend comes from declassified young vine fruit from the domaine's Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin plots—Premier Cru terroir at regional appellation pricing. Half the wine is raised in stainless steel, half in oak barrels with around 20% new French oak, aging at least 12 months to develop complexity.
Elegant Depth Beyond Its Class
The wine displays remarkable aromatic intensity with notes of white flowers, ripe white fruits, white peach, and light spice. On the palate, it's both rounded and mineral, with a vivacity that signals lightness and freshness, offering far more depth and elegance than expected at this appellation level. Thomas Morey's style differs from his father's: tauter, more linear, with initial restraint in the modern idiom of fine white Burgundy.
