Torbreck Les Amis 2013

After being hand-harvested on March 21st, this unique small batch of fruit was destemmed into a single cement vat for 8 days, with twice-daily pump-overs. It was then gently basket-pressed directly into new French barriques. Following 24 months of maturation, the barrels were carefully racked and assembled for bottling. The wine was left to settle and was bottled in August 2015, without fining or filtration.

This exceptional Grenache comes from vines over 100 years old. The fully destemmed grapes were fermented in cement and matured for 24 months in new French barriques. Unfined and unfiltered, this wine is only released in exceptional years. It boasts an incredible nose of rosemary, pine needle, violets, lavender, rich red plum, dark cherry, raspberry, creamy butterscotch, and mocha. On the palate, it is full-bodied with medium-plus silky tannins, medium acidity, and a supple, silky smooth body. It is ripe but not jammy.
