Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2023 comes from the visionaries behind Cloudy Bay's original success - viticulturist Ivan Sutherland and winemaker James Healy, who left to establish their own estate in 2002 on some of Marlborough's oldest vineyard sites dating to the 1970s. This Sauvignon Blanc transcends the category entirely, setting itself apart with intensity, depth, and energy that few New Zealand producers achieve.
Radical Quality Philosophy
Dog Point hand-picks fruit from eight separate parcels at yields 50% below the regional average—virtually unheard of practices in New Zealand. Organic viticulture on free-draining silty clay loams produces intense citrus and grapefruit flavors, with partial indigenous yeast fermentation adding complexity.
Critics Love It
James Suckling awarded 92 points, praising its "clean and crisp" character with "grapefruit, green melon and lemon" plus "lovely acidity and delicious finish". The wine delivers a citrus core that's juicy and intense with refreshing saline acidity.
