The 2014 Rothwell Hyde, the first and most ready to drink of the 2014s, is a mix of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, 15% Petit Verdot, and the remainder Malbec. While it lacks the depth of the single vineyard releases, it clearly demonstrates the house style and quality level. This medium-bodied, elegant, polished gem reveals cassis, currants, roasted spices, touches of toasty oak, and white chocolate. With rich tannin, excellent mouthfeel, lovely balance, and lots of longevity.
