Product Description
Dog Point Pinot Noir 2021 comes from some of Marlborough's oldest Pinot vines planted in 1983 by Cloudy Bay legends Ivan Sutherland and James Healy. This certified organic Pinot Noir from New Zealand's largest BioGro vineyard demonstrates why Dog Point is "one of the very best in New Zealand, and truly world class".
Meticulous Organic Craftsmanship
Hand-picked at ultra-low yields of 3.2 tonnes per hectare from clay hillsides, the fruit undergoes 70% destemming with 30% whole bunches, fermenting with 100% indigenous yeasts for three weeks before aging 18 months in French oak (30% new). Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this captures pure terroir expression.
Dual 94-Point Scores
Wine Spectator awarded 94 points, praising it as "lush and juicy, with notes of cherry preserves, blood orange and fresh raspberry" with "accents of lavender and violet".
Wine Enthusiast also scored 94 points, highlighting "lovely concentration and harmony" making it "a solid cellaring choice until 2030". Deep ruby color reveals dark plum, baking spices, violets, and rose perfume, while the palate delivers opulent fruit with velvet texture from fine-grained tannins.
The 2021 vintage benefited from exceptional conditions—January was the warmest in 60+ years of records. Drink now with aeration or cellar through 2032.
