Product Description
A powerful yet elegant Mencía from Bierzo's esteemed Carramonte parcel in Valtuille. This single-vineyard wine comes from 90-year-old vines planted on steep slopes with iron-rich red clay and slate soils.
The 2024 vintage is fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel, then aged 12 months in used 500-liter French oak barrels. The result is a concentrated, structured wine with dark berries, violet, liquorice, and mineral undertones. The palate is dense yet refined, with silky tannins and a long, saline finish.
Previous vintages have earned 95-96 points from Wine Advocate and Vinous, confirming Carramonte as one of Bierzo's elite terroir expressions. Only 800 bottles produced annually.
Hand-harvested, unfiltered, and crafted with minimal intervention, this wine demands patience. Decant 2 hours before serving to reveal its full depth and complexity. A must-have for collectors seeking Spain's finest old-vine Mencía.
