Situated at the pinnacle of the Côte Brune slope, Fongeant represents a distinctive parcel of land. Established in 1954, this vineyard has been cultivated using horse plowing techniques by Pierre Jean Villa since he took ownership in 2013. The winemaking process incorporates either two-thirds or 100% whole cluster fermentation, with practices of fining and filtering being omitted, contingent upon the specific vintage.
The aromatic profile of this wine reveals notes of purple fruits, smoke, cured meat, and violets. Its freshness and elegance are remarkable, complemented by outstanding fruity characteristics. The finish is both luminous and prolonged, featuring a hint of minerality, which contributes to the wine's exceptional quality as a Côte-Rôtie.
