Product Description
Thomas Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jean 2022 comes from one of Burgundy's most ancient vineyard sites, with origins tracing back to 589 AD. The tenth-generation winemaker farms his Clos Saint-Jean parcel in the Rebichets sector, historically the white wine heart of Chassagne-Montrachet where Chardonnay thrives on limestone-rich soils.
Old Vines Meet New Plantings
Thomas Morey blends fruit from over 60-year-old vines with recently planted parcels (2017), creating both depth and freshness in a single cuvée. Grapes ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in French oak, aging 16-18 months on fine lees without bâtonnage, bottled unfined to preserve maximum texture and purity.
Graceful Precision
The wine displays brilliant straw yellow with green reflections, offering a fascinating interplay between elegant reduction and precise fruit. Aromas reveal white flowers, brioche, candied lemon, pear, apple, and exotic hints, while the palate combines juicy mid-weight with structuring acidity and remarkable length. The citrus-driven character features lemon, lemon zest, and mineral tension.
