Product Description
Thomas Morey Santenay Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2022 showcases the tenth-generation winemaker's talent with red wine, blending fruit from three old-vine Pinot Noir parcels in Santenay planted on limestone and stony soils. Since establishing his domaine in 2006, Thomas Morey has gained acclaim for his elegant, restrained style; favoring crisp acidity and finesse over power, now fully certified organic as of 2023.
Traditional Burgundy Craftsmanship
Hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and minimal sulfur additions, following traditional Burgundy methods. The wine ages approximately 15 months in French oak barrels (20% new) before additional tank maturation, bottled without fining or filtration.
Generous & Approachable
The wine displays deep ruby color with enchanting aromas of cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and rose petals, complemented by earthy undertones and touches of wood spice. On the palate, it delivers generous red fruit character with smooth texture, silky well-integrated tannins, and lively acidity creating a weighty yet graceful "chewy" texture. This old-vine Pinot Noir over-delivers in every way—offering approachable pleasure from year three while possessing aging potential for several more years. Perfect with barbecued poultry, game birds, or mushroom dishes.
