Product Description
New Zealand's Greatest Sauvignon Blanc
Dog Point Vineyard Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc 2020 is widely regarded as the most distinctive and greatest Sauvignon Blanc made in New Zealand today. This single-vineyard wine from vines planted in 1992 represents an entirely different approach—hand-picked at ultra-low yields and fermented with indigenous yeasts in older French oak for 18 months.
Redefining the Category
Unlike typical Marlborough styles, Section 94 delivers exotic smoky and spicy flavors mingling with floral and ripe citrus notes, textural roundness playing against cool, fresh raciness. The chalky minerality and fresh herbal influence create a complex, full-bodied wine that emphasizes terroir over varietal generalities.
Exceptional Critical Acclaim
James Suckling and Wine Spectator both awarded 95 points, with Suckling noting "layers of crushed stones, smoked almonds, green apples, lemon pith, white pepper, licorice and oyster shells—so powerful and concentrated". Wine Spectator praised its "stunning" complexity with "beeswax, litsea oil, grilled lemon and smoke swirling around ripe peach, melon and lemon curd flavors on an epic finish".
The Wine Advocate scored 94+ points, calling it "a powerful, tightly coiled wine of great length and complexity". Drinks beautifully now or cellar 10+ years.
