Product Description
A single-vineyard Mencía masterpiece from Bierzo's most iconic site. Sourced exclusively from the historic Rapolao parcel in Valtuille, this wine showcases the extraordinary potential of old-vine Mencía on iron-rich red clay soils.
Vines average 85-100 years, planted on steep slopes that impart intense mineral concentration and structural depth. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, followed by aging in used 500-liter French oak barrels and large foudres, allows the terroir to speak without oak interference.
The 2024 vintage radiates pure, energetic fruit—wild berries, violets, and crushed stone—layered with savory earth and fine-grained tannins. The palate is tense, focused, and remarkably long, with a saline finish that lingers. Previous vintages have consistently scored 95+ points from Wine Advocate and Vinous, cementing this wine's status among Spain's finest.
Hand-harvested, unfiltered, and crafted with minimal intervention, Finca El Rapolao is a profound expression of place. Decant 1-2 hours before serving to reveal its full complexity. A must-have for collectors and lovers of terroir-driven Spanish reds.
