Shangri-La's Ultra-Premium Himalayan Winery
Clos MAO is an ultra-premium boutique winery in Shangri-La, Yunnan, founded by French-trained oenologist Mao Yelingxiao. Nestled on the northeast slopes of Meili Snow Mountain at 2,500–2,900 meters, the 1.5-hectare estate overlooks the Lancang River, farming iron-rich schist and limestone soils with organic, low-intervention practices.
Annual production is a mere ~1,600 bottles, making each release exceptionally rare. The portfolio includes the Clos MAO "Light" Chardonnay—a reductive, flinty white with high acidity and floral aromatics—and the "Shuó Lin" red blend, a Merlot-dominant wine praised for elegant, silky tannins.
With 92-point community ratings and a drinking window extending to 2036, Clos MAO is redefining Chinese fine wine. This is Himalayan terroir expressed with precision, restraint, and a bold personal signature—wines built for collectors who seek authenticity and age-worthiness from an emerging world-class region.
