Domaine A

The A Game Winery in Tasmania

The estate was established in 1973 by Peter and Ruth Foulds under the original name Stoney Vineyard. It was one of the very first vineyards in the Coal River Valley. In 1990, the estate was purchased by Swiss businessman and wine connoisseur, Thomas "Tom" Schaefer. He renamed it Domaine A and shifted focus to ultra-premium, single-estate wines. Tasmania is famously cool, making it ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Successfully growing robust, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely difficult and rare here. Domaine A's unique microclimate allows them to do this. Their Cabernet is consistently hailed as one of Australia's best and most long-lived, challenging the notion that Tasmania can't produce great Bordeaux-style reds.
